Honey, Milk, and Oatmeal Cleanser

Honey, Milk, and Oatmeal Cleanser

What you need:

½ cup dry goat’s milk, powdered
½ cup finely ground oatmeal
Medium bowl
Whisk
Clean, sterile jar with a lid
1 tablespoon honey powder (optional – you can also just add 2–3 drops of
honey when you add the water)
Warm water
A clean rag

How to make it:

In a medium sized bowl, mix together the powdered goat’s milk, ground oatmeal, and honey powder. Whisk the dry ingredients together well, making sure they are fully blended. Pour the mixture into a dry jar with a lid and store near your sink. To use the cleanser, put about ½ tablespoon of the dry mixture into the palm of your hand and add enough warm water to make a thin paste. (Adding the water at the time of use makes the cleanser shelf stable, whereas adding the water to the jar would cause the mixture to go bad quickly.) If you didn’t use honey powder, this is when you would add a few drops of honey to the mixture in your hand.

Massage the cleanser over your face, using small circular motions to gently exfoliate and cover as much of your face as possible. Once you are satisfied, rinse off the cleanser with warm water and pat your face dry. This can be used daily to help mildly exfoliate, cleanse, and moisturize your face.

Aloe Vera Refreshing Facial Cleanser

Aloe Vera Refreshing Facial Cleanser

What you need:

5 tablespoons aloe vera gel (not liquid or oil)
3 teaspoons natural liquid castile soap
3 teaspoons jojoba, shea, coconut, or hemp oil
2–5 drops lavender essential oil
2 drops tea tree essential oil (optional)
¼ teaspoon honey
Sifter or fine mesh tea ball
1 teaspoon bentonite or kaolin clay
A clean plastic bottle or jar with a lid
Mixing bowl
Whisk
Funnel (if using a bottle)

How to make it:

Start by putting the aloe vera gel in the mixing bowl. Add the oils and honey. and whisk together. Once the all the liquids are blended, add the castile soap and whisk gently, making sure not to get it too foamy with air bubbles. Sift  the clay over the bowl and into the mixture and gently but thoroughly mix everything together so there are no lumps of clay. Cover the bowl and let it sit for about 30 minutes so that any air bubbles dissipate. Then use the whisk to stir the mixture just enough to make sure nothing settled. Pour the mixture into a jar or use a funnel to pour it into a bottle.

To use the aloe facial cleanser, dampen your entire face with warm water. Pour a nickel-sized amount of the cleanser into your dampened palms and rub your hands together to lather it. Apply the cleanser to your face, being careful not to get it into your eyes, and massage into the skin. Once you are finished lathering up your face, use warm water to rinse the mixture off and a dry, clean towel to pat the skin dry. This is safe for daily use and shelf-stable
